A poor performance in the last week before the break with 45 points, only Jordan Pickford and the three Manchester City assets, but it’s all change this week as we get stuck into our FPL Gameweek 6 Preview.

FPL Gameweek 6 Target Fixtures & Players
Arsenal (vs Leeds, home)
The pick of the weekend fixtures is Arsenal’s home match against Leeds. Arsenal scored nine goals in their two matches against Saturday’s opponents last season and will want to forget about their 3-0 drubbing against Brighton last time out. Back at the Emirates, and with a chance to put pressure on Manchester City, they can be backed to pick up three points.
Top picks:
- Ricardo Calafiori (5.9m) – Already up 0.4m since the start of the campaign, the Italian has been superb and can be backed again this weekend.
- Jurrien Timber (6.5m) – Massive differential with less than 1% ownership, Timber offers multiple routes to points with assist and goal threat to go with his defensive work.
- Bukayo Saka (9.6m) – Arsenal’s leading goalscorer had a good international break with England and has strong captaincy potential this week.
- Viktor Gyokeres (7.1m) – With Kai Havertz expecting to be sidelined, Gyokeres could make his first start of the campaign and a good differential this week.
Brighton (vs Sunderland, away)
Brighton delivered the performance of the season in their 3-0 win over Arsenal and head north this weekend with a plethora of excellent FPL assets in all areas of the pitch.
Top picks:
- Maxim De Cuyper (5.0m) – The Belgian is been excellent so far this season and continues to play in an attacking role despite his defender status.
- Pascal Gros (5.9m) – Arguably the best player in the entire league so far and a real value enabler. Time to embrace the timeless German metronome.
- Malick Yalcouye (4.5m) – Another gem uncovered by Brighton, the pacy forward is by far the best 4.5m midfielder in the game.
- Charalampos Kostoulas (5.6m) – The Greek has scored ten points in back-to-back gameweeks and looks set to continue to lead the Seagulls line.
Chelsea (vs Bournemouth, home)
There’s some trepidation in this pick as you cannot trust Chelsea at the back, but going forward they’re a dangerous prospect and they have some attractive options for the visit of Bournemouth, with an open game expected.
Top picks:
- Morgan Rogers (7.8m) – Coming in 2.1m cheaper than his England teammate but with one extra point, Rogers is arguably the best Chelsea prospect this week.
- Cole Palmer (9.7m) – Dropped out of the England squad but expected to be fit for his club side, Palmer can continue his strong start to the campaign.
- Joao Pedro (7.7m) – The Brazilian is a doubt but if he plays he’ll be fancied to continue his strong start to the season.
Manchester United (vs Tottenham, away)
Bottom of the table Tottenham head to Old Trafford in another game that could be anything. Like Chelsea, it’s hard to trust United at the back, but they have some good attacking options to take on a beleaguered Spurs backline.
Top picks:
- Senne Lammens (5.0m) – Save points could come in handy this week with few nailed clean sheets across the Premier League card.
- Matheus Cunha (7.9m) – The Brazilian picked up ten points at Fulham last time out and looked dangerous in every game so far.
- Bryan Mbeumo (7.9m) – Mbeumo has scored twice so far and despite blanking the last two gameweeks, he’s had solid xG, so returns can be expected sooner or later.
Newcastle (vs Coventry, away)
Newcastle have had an up-and-down start to the campaign but travel to Coventry fancying their chances of adding three points to their tally. They played well to down another newly promoted side last time out in Hull.
Top picks:
- Lewis Hall (5.3m) – Hall has had a brilliant start to the campaign, hitting two double figure points hauls already, and he can cause the Sky Blues problems.
- Harvey Barnes (6.0m) – The English winger looks the pick of Newcastle midfield options so far, and got two assists for a double-figure haul against Hull.
- Yoane Wissa (6.1m) – Missed a penalty last time out but looks a reliable and good-value forward option.
FPL Gameweek 6 Captaincy
Bukayo Saka (C) – Saka gets the armband this week, may lose penalties to Gyokeres, but has been excellent so far this season and looks the best bet in a tricky gameweek.
Gros (VC) – Has been Mr Reliable so far with three big hauls in five games, and a chance is taken on the German as Vice Captain this week.
Worth a Punt
Zion Suzuki (5.0m) – The Japanese keeper has earned rave reviews so far and Villa are at home to Brentford in a tricky, but winnable, game.
Jarrad Branthwaite (5.5m) – Everton embark on a decent run of fixtures and the England defender is back to his best.
Josh King (6.0m) – The young English midfielder has had a productive start to the season and could be worth a crack against Ipswich.
Emersonn (5.5m) – Ipswich’s record signing has started the season well and a home game against Fulham offers the strong possibility of more attacking returns.
