It was a disappointing 48 points for the For Foot Sake team in FPL Gameweek 29. The double up on Everton’s defence helped, but shock defeats for Liverpool and Leeds, and Manchester City’s home draw with Nottingham Forest did the damage. Casemiro came up trumps with a goal from the ‘worth a punt’ section, but sadly didn’t make the fifteen, and that sums up the week. It’s now FPL Gameweek 30 though, and with a blank coming up next round, this is a crucial one for managers to get right. We’ve tried to bear that in mind with the selection for this week!

FPL Gameweek 30 Target Fixtures & Players
Liverpool (vs Tottenham, home)
Tottenham return to domestic action after their already notorious 5-2 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the week. Things don’t get any easier as they visit Anfield, with the hosts ready to inflict more pain on their relegation threatened opponents. Expect Liverpool attackers to thrive here.
Top picks:
- Virgil van Dijk (6.2m) – Has multiple routes to points here and one of the best defenders to pick for the run-in.
- Mohamed Salah (14.0m) – Two goals in three games, is Salah back to his best? With the blank next week we’re prepared to say yes.
- Cody Gakpo (7.3m) – A forward who’s listed as a midfielder is a cheaper alternative to Salah.
- Hugo Ekitike (9.1m) – Liverpool’s main centre forward will be licking his lips having watched Spurs in recent weeks.
Arsenal (vs Everton, home)
Arsenal had a tough trip to Leverkusen in midweek but returned with a creditable draw. They blank next week for the Carabao Cup Final, and may rotate here. But certainly hold what you have with the Gunners and use a free hit or wildcard next week to sidestep the blank. Everton at home is a favourable fixture.
Top picks:
- David Raya (6.0m) – Reliable route into Arsenal’s back line. If you own him, just bench next week and get him back for GW32 onwards.
- Piero Hincapie (5.1m) – Cheaper route into Arsenal’s defence. Gets forward down the left so has attacking threat as well as obvious defensive possibilities.
- Bukayo Saka (9.8m) – Scored the winner in GW29 with a nine point haul against Brighton, worth a look again this week.
- Eberechi Eze (7.2m) – Looking to make the no.10 role his own and this fixture offers him an opportunity for assists and goals after his FA Cup winner last weekend.
Man City (vs West Ham, away)
A humbling at the Bernabeu won’t stop City applying the pressure domestically in what is a must win game in the title race. Tricky on paper, but definitely options to exploit despite the blank next week.
Top picks:
- Nico O’Reilly (5.1m) – Attacking full-back or midfielder, either way, a solid pick in defence.
- Rodri (6.3m) – Certain starter for the run-in and good value with multiple routes to points.
- Antoine Semenyo (8.3m) – With Haaland slightly off colour, make the Ghanaian your go-to Man City attacker.
Manchester United (vs Aston Villa, home)
Aston Villa’s season has fallen apart at the worst possible time and United are one of the clubs to benefit. The impact Michael Carrick has had makes you wonder what previous managers were doing there, but nonetheless, this is a fixture to target in FPL Gameweek 30.
Top picks:
- Harry Maguire (4.4m) – Budget route into a solid looking United defence.
- Bruno Fernandes (10.1m) – Returned even in United’s defeat against Newcastle and has 67 points since GW21. A must-have.
- Benjamin Sesko (7.3m) – Starting to look the real deal having struggled under Amorim. Starting now so looks a value attacker for the remainder of the season.
Brentford (vs Wolves, home)
A home game against the bottom club is always a fixture to target and Brentford have a number of in-form options who can take advantage of the Old Gold’s struggles this campaign.
Top picks:
- Keane Lewis-Potter (4.8m) – Used to play in midfield so a major threat for assists and a clean sheet here.
- Mikkel Damsgaard (5.6m) – Two goals against Burnley showed the Dane is finding his best form.
- Thiago (7.2m) – Penalty taker and second highest scorer in the league, in a week of strong attacking options, the Brazilian is another to consider.
FPL Gameweek 30 Captain Picks
Mohamed Salah (C) – The FPL GOAT was back on the scoresheet last time out and takes the armband for us this week.
Hugo Ekitike (VC) – The heir to Salah’s throne and scored in the reverse fixture, central to Liverpool’s plans for the remainder of the campaign, too.
Worth a Punt
Djordje Petrovic (4.5m) – With Arsenal blanking next week and an away fixture on the horizon, now could be a good time to swap keeper.
Tyrick Mitchell (5.0m) – Munoz is a doubt so the England full-back is worth a look in the Palace defence.
Adam Wharton (5.0m) – Two assists last time out, a good defensive contributor and a favourable home match make the English midfielder a strong differential.
Kai Havertz (7.3m) – Could start against Everton given Arsenal’s fixture run and the German’s return to fitness.
