Last weekend treated me nicely with two winners, and midweek wasn’t too shabby either, PSG obliged in an all‑timer against Bayern. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a football match that much. Kvaratskhelia is a dream of a player, a footballing hallucination, and it’s a tragedy he won’t be at the World Cup this summer. Atletico then held Arsenal in a gritty stalemate that did me no harm at all, rounding off a tidy double‑my‑money midweek.
Now we roll into a weekend that looks absolutely loaded. Europe, the Premier League, the relegation scrap, the title races, it’s all bubbling away beautifully. I’ve picked out FOUR bets that should add a bit of spice to your Saturday and Sunday. Let’s get stuck in.

Newcastle v Brighton
Premier League, St James’ Park, Newcastle, UK, 4pm CET, Saturday 2nd May
Prices: 2.50 Newcastle, 3.60 Draw, 2.65 Brighton
Newcastle’s season is drifting from “meh” to “oh dear” at an alarming rate, and Brighton arrive in the North East looking like a side with purpose. The Seagulls are unbeaten in five, have had a luxurious ten‑day break, and are sniffing around the European spots like a dog that’s found an open picnic basket.
Newcastle got credit for their effort against Arsenal, but credit doesn’t put points on the board, and the noise around Eddie Howe, while premature, isn’t helping. The Saudi PIF fund pulled the plug on LIV Golf this week, and if Newcastle keep serving up seasons like this, you wouldn’t blame them for eyeing the exit door here too.
Brighton are the better‑coached, better‑rested, better‑functioning side right now. At close to even money, the draw‑no‑bet angle feels like the smart, grown‑up play.
Tip: Brighton Draw No Bet @ 1.96. 1 unit.
Brentford v West Ham
Premier League, Gtech Community Stadium, London, UK, 4pm CET, Saturday 2nd May
Prices: 1.93 Brentford, 3.90 Draw, 3.65 West Ham
West Ham have turned their Premier League survival fight into a proper soap opera, and they head across London for a match that could define their season. Brentford have been excellent — Keith Andrews deserves a medal and a parade — but West Ham are fighting like a team who’ve finally realised the trapdoor is beneath their feet.
Jarrod Bowen remains one of the most underrated players in the league, and the Irons have shown more spirit in the last few weeks than they did in the first 32 games combined. With the chance to crank up the pressure on Tottenham, who play Sunday, I think the price on West Ham is simply too big.
Double chance gives us a nice safety net.
Tip: West Ham or Draw @ 1.89. 1 unit.
Osasuna v Barcelona
La Liga, El Sadar, Pamplona, Spain, 9pm CET, Saturday 2nd May
Prices: 4.80 Osasuna, 3.90 Draw, 1.70 Barcelona
I’ll admit it: this is heart over head. Osasuna burned me last time I opposed them at home, but I’m going back in because the narrative is too delicious to ignore. A Barcelona win here sets up the possibility of clinching the title at home to Real Madrid next weekend. Footballing theatre at its finest.
Barca are out of Europe, fully focused, and have won nine league games on the bounce. They’re playing with clarity, confidence, and a bit of swagger. Pamplona is never an easy trip, but with the form they’re in, 1.70 feels more than fair.
Let’s ride the story.
Tip: Barcelona to win @ 1.70. 1 unit.
Borussia Monchengladbach v Borussia Dortmund
Bundesliga, Borussia Park, Monchengladbach, Germany, 5.30pm CET, Sunday 3rd May
Prices: 3.70 Borussia Monchengladbach, 3.80 Draw, 1.89 Borussia Dortmund
It’s the battle of the Borussias in Germany this weekend and I have to say this is a pure price play. Gladbach are winless in six, drifting in mid‑table, and playing like a team who’ve already mentally booked their summer holidays. Dortmund, meanwhile, are second, elite, and only cursed by the misfortune of sharing a league with Bayern Munich.
Serhou Guirassy is still in the form of his life, and Dortmund bounced back from two narrow defeats with a 4–0 demolition of Freiburg. If they show up with even 80% of that energy, this should be straightforward.
Tip: Borussia Dortmund to win @ 1.89. 1 unit.
